Getting Through the Darkest Night

Being in a relationship with the one you love is a beautiful thing. The fun moments make it more exciting. Sometimes these fun moments are all we unconsciously crave for -- it is understandable. Nevertheless, there are moments that shake the very foundation upon which a relationship is built. These moments are usually the darkest nights of our relationship...moments that test the strength of our love and commitment.

The darkest night of a relationship may be that moment when both partners lose their jobs and can barely get by each day because of lack of money. The darkest night could be that moment when married partners lose a child. The darkest night could be that moment when a relationship is plagued with series of conflicts that drain both partners to the point that they feel tempted to walk away. The darkest night could be when one partner becomes critically ill to the point where hope seems elusive. The darkest night could be any situation that threatens the continued existence of your relationship. Before you conclude that hope is lost, remember that after night comes day...

Regardless of how long and dark a night is, it always gives way to day. Hang in there with the assurance that the bright light of day will surely shine on you. While you hang in there, remember that it is normal to feel overwhelmed and tempted to throw in the towel...it is okay to cry and fret every so often...it is okay to feel weak once in a while...it is normal -- you are human. Just hang in there for these moments are defining moments that strengthen your spirit. Again, remember that no matter how long and dark a night is, it always gives way to day....
