Subtle Angles to Control in Relationships

It's Thursday and here's a throwback. In relationships there are times when we exercise control over our partners without knowing. Below are subtle angles to exercising control over our partners:

  1. Doing something wrong and seeking understanding and mercy while condemning and punishing your partner for doing the same thing.
  2. Refusing to give something up while demanding that your partner gives up the same thing.
  3. Hurting your partner and deciding or dictating how he or she should react to the pain caused by you.
  4. Requesting to be understood always but never showing the willingness to understand your partner.
  5. Always eager to argue and win those arguments instead of having robust dialogues to gain insights and foster understanding.

We exercise control over our partners in relationships when we evince the above behaviours.
